Record-breaking rainfall recorded at our Beverley mine site
Between late February and early March 2026, parts of regional South Australia experienced record-breaking rainfall. At our Beverley mine site, more than a year’s worth of rain fell in just a few days, resulting in floods and temporary operational disruption. Access roads were washed out and remained closed for weeks.
Mine sites are typically described in shades of brown, orange and red — dusty, dry, rocky landscapes with sparse vegetation. In the aftermath of this extraordinary weather event, the landscape at Beverley has been transformed. Seeing the country renewed in this way for the first time has been nothing short of stunning.
Events like this reinforce the importance of strong environmental stewardship, and our responsibility to operate safely, sustainably and in partnership with the landscapes and communities that host our operations.
